Come celebrate Earth Day with Hollin Meadows Elementary School on Saturday, April 23rd from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This annual event highlights our strong school-community connections and provides an opportunity for students and alumni, their families, and members of the community to volunteer in the school gardens and grounds in anticipation of the Spring 2022 growing cycle.

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, the beloved Earth Day Celebration and Community Work-Day returns to Hollin Meadows Elementary School.  This year the event will focus on ongoing maintenance and the spring growing season for the HMES Outdoor Education Program, which includes 14,000 square feet of school gardens and outdoor classroom space. The Hollin Meadows community and its neighbors will be coming together to complete new elements and enhance existing structures of the Learning Production Garden, Sensory Garden, and Outdoor Classroom.  Along with volunteer opportunities for all ages and abilities, there will be food, children’s activities, and a student-led bake sale and plant sale. The event will be an opportunity for the community to get an inside look at the exciting hands-on learning environment at HMES - spaces that are the result of the successful collaboration between an engaged community, public schools and private business.
